Pakistan celebrates second day of Eidul Azha

People across Pakistan continued the sacrifice of animals on the second day of Eidul Azha on Thursday.

The sacrificing began after Eid prayers on Wednesday morning and will continue today. Eidul Azha is an essential religious rite in memory of the sacrifice performed by the prophet Abraham.

Various religious organisations have made arrangements for collective sacrifice of animals. Political and religious parties are also trying to collect as many hides of sacrificed animals as possible.

Municipal committees have made special arrangements to ensure the complete and proper disposal of animal remains.

The sacrifice of animals will continue for another day until Friday.

Meanwhile, pilgrims have wrapped up the rituals of the annual pilgrimage of Hajj with the symbolic stoning of the devil in Mina valley, near Makkah.

Stoning has in the past been marked by deadly stampedes but Saudi authorities have now revamped the area, with no major incidents reported so far.
